Both the 6th and 7th Generation Accords are still big catalytic converter theft targets. I ended up using 3 points in front of the CatClamp.

It was some kind of small bracket, then a cutout in the subframe, and the last was a wrap around an immobile part of the steering rack. Hi, just discovered my bf Honda Accord cat converter was cut out.

Got me spooked when I read how easy they can be taken. I have a Nissan Versa. Will this work on my vehicle? Is there a lock of any sort or is the deterrent the time consuming to remove? Bonny- As an old Accord owner, I know how that feels! Hopefully you can get an aftermarket catalytic converter installed on the cheap.

This meant my replacement catalytic converter needed to be welded in instead of bolting a new one in myself. I also needed to replace the oxygen sensor that goes into the cat. It was an earlier model though. I saw the Versa actually has two catalytic converters connected by a small run of pipe, much like the Prius. Your email address will not be published. I want to get my hands on a pyrometer to compare temperatures at the input and out put of the bank 1 and 2 cats, and to check the exhaust system in general.

I also am about to take it someplace to get it hooked to a smoke machine. I have the Honda manual, and it says you have to remove the intermediate shaft, mess with the transmission fluid, remove the exhaust pipe, etc. Then you remove it from the bottom.

My question is, assuming the cat is indeed bad and needs replacement or at least a good cleaning , is it possible to move the engine forward a bit to get clearance in order to remove it from the top? How would I do that, and is it even safe? Or is there no way around a partial disassembly of my car?

Just use the search function to find it and it should give you some step by step directions on replacement. As for testing the cat. If you use a pyrometer, there should be a f temperature increase from the inlet to the outlet of the cat.
