You bought the laptop with Windows 10 already pre-installed and it wasn't upgraded from an existing Windows installation. You also didn't have the WHS console installed on it either. Did you try the CD install? My experience with Windows 10 and the WHS console was when my local machine was upgraded to Windows 10 from Windows 8.

The upgrade wizard also pulled the WHS Console application with it. It was that simple. So I don't have any reason to believe why the original CD's wouldn't work this way too.

I bought the laptop with Windows 8, but upgraded to 10 without installing anything else in before hand. It works well with the connector after using the old installation CD. Except for one thing. So I have to manually go and start the server.
