Everquest dual core patch

I choose E. Try without MQ. Are you using WinEQ? Not using WinEq on this or any computer. Does EQ work without MQ The issue with most machines and dual core processers is power. You cant double the power requirments of your system and expect your dusty old power supply to keep up. Also do not just buy the cheap knock-off; "dirty" or unstable power can be just as harmful as not enough. Flasht2az New member. This has been an issue for me as well.

It's not a power issue as I have more than enough there too. It's not the fact of not having the updated drivers either. I spent the first 2 months trying to fix it and it will still randomly happen. I have used winxp pro 32 and 64bit os's as well. Neither would give me the set affinity option btw I have AMD KN8 SLI FX55 , 4 gig ram, 2x geforce gt's in sli mode, w supply, 32" lcd monitor, 2 sata hd's Of which the second was solely used for EQ and nothing more than needed to try to fix this problem etc.

I would still get crashes though, just less often. Blue screen at times, other times just freezes. I have spent countless nights just reading the different sites and other's issues. As I said, what has worked out for me as being the most reliable is just only playing 2 accounts 3 is still ok, but I just expect trouble and using my 2ndary or 3rd pc for the others. I dont really like that but its what I've had to "settle" for. Just less aggravation and headaches. I do wish there was a simple fix though, I just haven't seen it.

Still having zoning problem. I have never had any crashes, only problem is going to login when I zone. I can change the Affinity and Priviledges on other apps. The problem does occur even when I have not used MQ2 since the last reboot.

Maybe it happens a little less when I have not been using MQ2 but it happens sporadically either way. Multiboxing also does not seem to be the cause as it has happened when I 1,2 or 3 box on this computer.

Gondola New member. I had a ton of problems when I first got my new dual core system. Since then, all my problems have cleared up and I haven't bluescreened or rebooted once. I rarely even crash out of EQ. I used to use WinEQ2 but I don't anymore.

I my new Core 2 Duo E beast Photoshop loads a lot quicker, even with my boatload of fonts. I'm sure there are other ones that are cheaper, but this gives you the idea.

I used to be completely unable to 2-box and people started declining to let me join even as a single because they would constantly have to reinvite me into the group due to crashing to server select every time I would zone.

I now 6-box for as long as I want to without rebooting. Mine is an Athlon X2. I use 2 shortcuts to start EQ and alternate them as I load up my 6 characters: 1, 2, 1, 2, 1, 2 so that 3 instances are on the first processor and 3 on the second.

The symptoms of a Dual or Quad Core problem are: 1. Character appears to be sliding along then ground when running 2. Character speeds up and slows down oddly while running 3. Character seems to warp around 4. Everquest crashes often shortly after entering the game or even before connecting to the server.

The game will run very smooth for a few seconds and then completely lag out and get choppy for a few seconds, then return to normal and smooth again over and over. It may even work on other versions of Windows, but I haven't tried it. To do so, follow these steps: 1. Right click on your EQEmu shortcut on your desktop.

Click "Properties". Go to the Shortcut tab if you aren't there already should already be on this tab. Delete everything in the "Target" field, but make sure to leave the "Start in" field alone! Paste the following line into your "Target" field: Code:. Last edited by trevius; at AM.. Find all posts by trevius. Join Date: Sep Location: California. Posts: 1, Find all posts by GeorgeS.

Thanks for the Sticky I forgot to mention that if none of the above fixes your problem, you should be able to use one of these 2 programs to force EQ to run on 1 processor by setting the affinity from the start. The first program is called Get And Set and it is fairly self explanatory. Download the RunFirst zip file in the link above 2. Right click on the runfirst.

Drag the shortcut to your desktop 5. Right click the shortcut and go to Properties 6. In the Target field, you should see something like this: Code:. Join Date: Oct Location: Mattmecks Basement. Posts: Very good work. I know quite a few vista users who will find this handy. Join Date: Feb Posts: 7. The part about where you rightclick eqgame. Posts: 4. So, I was just required to buy a Lenovo T61p for school. I reinstalled Quadro FX drivers from the Lenovo website and have the latest drivers.

I have tried compatibility mode for all Windows operating systems listed. I have used the RunFirst program to automatically set the affinity for the eqgame. I verified after loading each time that the core affinity was correctly set.

I am still stuck with the expected choppy run speed.. Also, the combat animations, and animations for all NPCs, are moving at this slow speed. Chat, raw dps, appear to be unaltered. Ie, it's purely graphical. Does anyone have any other ideas on what I could change on the system settings to speed up graphics animations to their normal values? Searching multiple forums has only resulted in the well documented solutions posted in this thread. Thanks, UHC. Is that Intel, or AMD processor? And I assume you are running Vista?

Make sure you ran all of the windows updates and they installed. Also, if you are running a laptop, then it probably has CPU throttling enabled. Right Click on your Desktop 2. Select Properties 3. Click the Screen Saver tab 4.

Click "Power Click OK on both windows. You won't believe this. Thanks, Trev, I had tried that too. I just downloaded WinEQ, but no games are listed to select in the toolbar. Their forums are pretty dead so I thought I would try my luck here. Got the program working, but did not improve performance. I am having the slow movement issues.

I will continue to look for solutions. OK I've tried to read through as much as I can but I think my eyes are going to start bleeding if read anymore..

Now when I try to start the program my screen goes black as though it's switching video modes then about 3 seconds later I get booted back to my desktop with no errors of any kind, in task manager the system reports no running EQ applications, also no EQ related process are shown active once I'm returned to the desktop. Set the affinity to one proc. I also disable any real time scan that my anti virus is doing. Once I can achieve this the game runs smooth.

This happened to me initially when I hadn't set up video card options. For the core affinity issues, can't you just go into the EQClient. I've had the same issue as others have on this thread.

However, I cannot resolve mine for the life of me. I've tried everything in this thread plus things not listed in this thread. Many things help a slight bit, but do not resolve or come close to resolving the utter migraine this issue has become. Running a Intel Core 2 Duo processor.

Does anyone have any suggestions for me? I'd try anything. Things I've tried: Running vista on 1 core Setting the affinity manually Setting the affinity through target options in the.

I would just like to see I have resolved my issue thanks to a very helpful guild mate. I believe someone may have mentioned this earlier in the thread, but I disabled speedstep in my bios. No need for anything else. Hope this helps everyone else out there! Did you try this yet I had a similar issue on a 2. Worked ALOT better that way. Yes thats basically the same fix for people like me who don't have the option in the BIOS :.

I attempted every combination of every fix as listed throughout the entirety of this thread. I would highly recommend this as a starting point for anyone using Windows 7 bit Ultimate as it was the only thing that worked for me. What am I doing wrong here. We are sorry for the inconvenience.

Running XP 32bit. This happened to me when I had enabled compatibility mode for eqgame. Try turning it off. Thank you Septimus. You called it. Works fine now. I'm So glad there's a fix for my problem. I just wish I could understand what I'm supposed to do to fix it. Could someone help me, please? Thanks in advance for any help at all. This thread is helpful for those with freezing, black screen, or crashing. I'm at a loss at what to do, I can play for 5 min or 20 min before I get amazing lag, I installed Win 7 last night in hopes that it would help with a clean install.

And still I get this lag that will last for about 5min. Any other suggestions please!!!! Run and msconfig, on the boot tab click "advanced options". Select number of processors and set it to 1. Reboot and try again. Where do you download the free WinEQ2 Lite version? Ive looked on that site but all I see is the free trial. When you click that it starts a download but I'm led to believe that's the pay version. You can also try the fix I wrote.

Check out link to my all in one installer in my signature. Just choose to do CPU fix if you don't want any other features. Are all multi-processors causing problems? Only AMD ones. So if you arent experiencing issues with your Q then dont worry about fixing it :.

No play problems what-so-ever and the game appears very much like I remembered except maybe for pet being able to gain agro, nadda. Has anyone with this issue tried turning of speedstepping in the BIOS? I know I used to do this when I would OC alot. Not sure if this is actually the problem or not.

When I right click the icon and go to preferences, this is all I get I just downloaded WinEQ, but no games are listed to select in the toolbar. If it is fully patched and does not list the game you're looking for, right click WinEQ 2 in the system tray and under Options select "Preferences Your version is determined by the account either free or paid you must use to log in when starting the software. Ok, so I had this issue when I first installed eq and got p99 going about 6 months ago.

The game would slow WAY down at times then jump back to speed. Now just within the last week im having the game speed issues again. As far as i know nothing has changed on my end. I though maybe kunark content was just more demanding, but it didnt start right with kunark. If anyone has any idea what may be causing this issue to re-surface I would love some help.

Having the exact same issues EQ ran fine for 6 months after fixing the path on the icon, then came the v7 patch. I have had to reinstall Titanium 5 times and used Duxas tool each time, all is installed correctly but i still move in super slow motion, Its not even a draggin issue anymore, its a perma slow mode like everyone i see is in slow mode also. I'm just boggled at thing point, was thinking maybe its my laptop but even that is far fetched as its pretty new Intel chips Nvidia purevideo HD ect.

I still have issues unfortunately. I never had problems when I first started on here, but I took a bit of a break for the past 9 or so months and now I can't run this SoB on my laptop very well. I'm having the "working fine I've used the affinity, the cmd affinity On my laptop i used them, had same behavior you descibed..

First i was having graphical issues until I started using Win Eq 2 but now I'm just moving at a crawl which wasn't an issue before. No, that was one of the first things I tried I use your installer ;.

I use your installer ; ; hehe Not sure then :P. After pulling my hair out trying to figure something out, this was the last thing I did that seems to have worked. I had the multicore issue for a while and tried many of the fixes online to no avail. I am loading EQ from a shared folder and it runs perfectly now. Try it out - you may be surprised.

The only one that worked for me was to edit the msconfig to have it boot up with 1 core I thought there was some patch or download AMD dual core patch that fixed this issue a while back?

When I go to the compatability screen like the post above me, The option to run in another mode is greyed out so I cannot select it. It says that the program is part of windows or something like that. Any idea how to change that?

Hello gang, I'm trying to figure out if my issue is related to Multi-Core before I go ahead with this fix. The Problem: I log in to EQ, and make it to the server select screen just fine. Every server is listed. Once I click on any server, including classic - it will show the loading screen, get about half way on the loading bar and instantly log off.

Back to the log in screen I go. Would this be related? Should I just uninstall, and reinstall? Any help is appreciated. Regards, Etris. After trying everything else mentioned, this is what fixed it for me, too. Thank you!!

I'm not sure if anyone has mentioned this. I'm sure they have, but I'm not about to read 11 pages or whatever to figure it out. Obviously, the game has to be open. If I were you, I would do this either at the login screen or the server list. Doing it while logged in or at your character select screen does not always work out.

Step 2: Now, right click eqgame. Step 3: You should see two boxes checked.
